Researchers from the Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center say that eating more garlic will protect you from cancer. The research was about body process associated with nitrogen-containing compounds. These processes include nitrosation, or the conversion of some substances found in food or contaminated water, which get converted into carcinogens on entering the body.

The scientists wanted to develop a method where they could measure two different compounds in urine – one related to the risk for cancer, and the other, which indicated the extent of garlic consumption. It was during this research that the researchers found that these two components were inversely proportional to each other. This means that the more the marker for garlic consumption, the less was the marker for risk of cancer. So, making garlic a part of your diet will not just add up the spice but also do a whole lot of good.
